SQUICK!!!

I went upstairs for a glass of water last evening and as I was drinking it I looked up at our window and I saw THIS creeping around.

Dudes - that is one giant spider.

Of course Wayne was nowhere to be found so that I could pawn the task off on him. I couldn't risk going to get him because I really did not want to come back and not be able to find this guy and know he was loose in our house somewhere! So, I bucked up and collected him and moved him to much more suitable quarters. WHEW! Glad that's done.

We spent our day in Atlanta yesterday. What starts out as "we just need to run down and pick up clay" always ends up turning into like 15 different things. We took our little weiner dog to his new home and he is going to LOVE IT THERE. He is going to be so spoiled I feel sure he has already forgotten about us. Surprisingly, I don't think Petey has even noticed he is missing! We saw my mom and my dad, took our box of yarn to Needlenook and picked up the cute Needle Nook donataion and stopped by Knitch to pick up some great prizes for the Scalini's dinner!

Those of you attending the Scalini's dinner will NOT be disappointed! My dad has even threatened to come up there and visit us because he has been warned about how rowdy a group of knitters can be. I had to explain to him that we are NOT all little old ladies!! So, if he comes that will be doubly fun - I will put him in charge of the prizes! I'll be getting some pictures of the prizes but I don't think I will be getting most of them until the day of. Probably best that way so they don't become "over petted" before the dinner!

Hooray for snagging the spider on your own! :) I think we will continue to live North because our bugs don't get that big ;)

OMG! We try not to freak out about spiders around here, but I have to admit some inner squimishness!

I'm SO impressed with your courage in the face of such a creepy-looking spider. Eeeek! Just looking at it gives me the heebee jeebees. -Shudder-

My skin crawled and I felt sick just looking at that spider's picture. I think if my phobia gets much worse, the next step will be passing out. :( We have tarantulas here in TX. And I apparently have a few that live in my yard. Oh the horror!

ERK! My skin crawled momentarily when I opened your blog. OOF! Although it is a giant monster-spider, the color pattern on it is pretty. Is it poisonous? Was it aggressive towards you? I am proud of you for conquering this monster! I would have curled up in a fetal position, sucking my thumb. But then, there was a giant Monster spider in the bedroom with Marvyn when he was still just tiny, and I conquered and killed it. I did so because I didn't know if it was poisonous or not. The dinner sounds like it will be so fun! I envy you all! Hug Pa for me!

Yaaaaah!!! I'm too arachnophobic to even attempt to capture that spider. If they're small enough, I attack from a distance with a fly swatter (safer than toxic sprays with my toddler in the house).

*chills* Dude, I can handle spiders, but prefer the Hubs to do it too, but this guy was bad ass. I would have been using a bigger container--like trash can sized, because that guy looks fast and I'm not getting anywhere near him. Also, I would have left him there trapped underneath the trash can for the hubs to deal with. I would have put books on top of it...there are so many ways in which I would have decided to be squimish about spiders that that size.

A little warning next time?

Holy freakin' moley. That is one big bad spider.

I like to think I'm all environmentally friendly but when it comes to mice and (shudder) spiders my friends Hoover and Eureka come to the rescue. Six feet of cannister vaccuum tubing is almost far away enough to get them without them gettin' me.

OK. The title of this post should be "WARNING, GIANT SPIDER." not SQUICK!! Not enough warning for the arachnophobe (me)!!!!!

I am always amazed at the wildlife around your place! Seriously, you should open a zoo someday!

I have found them that big in our home before...usually wolf spiders (and some bigger when we were in hawaii, some poisionous) What is funny is i have to still be the one to dispose of them as hubby will laugh and walk away.
