Wild Release

Liz brought two opossums up with her for release this weekend. She has been rehabbing these little guys for a couple of months now. They are getting big and it's time for them to go find their own homes. I didn't have my camera on me when we released the first one, unfortunately, so I just have pictures of the second little guy getting released. It was so cute to watch him explore his new world for the first time.

BTW - I'm really glad to have these 2 on our property. Did you know that opossums eat poisonous snakes with no problem? That's good to know because we saw that darn Copperhead again yesterday. Wayne saw him REALLY up close and personal (too close for comfort). We tried to catch him but we couldn't. So, maybe a opossum will eat him!
And look at this cute little tree frog that I snapped a picture of. He was having a nap in the corner of our window last week.

Hi! I have just finished reading your blog from the beginning (it took me a few days...), and I just thought I would introduce myself. I love the blog, and even though I don't know that much about yarn, there is always something interesting in every post. I'll be sure to check in every day!

My name is Jenny, and I live in Sweden with husband and a Devon rex cat. I've only been knitting for about three years, so I'm still quite a novice. I't my funnest hobby though, and now while I'm on vacation I actually have time to knit almost every day!

If you want to, you can check out my newly-started blog (shameless self-promotion) here: http://jenny-stickar.blogspot.com/

Thank you for a wonderful read, I thonk I will even try to enter one of the contests soon too (if you ship to europe? I haven't checked for that on the web page).

Stick with the tree frogs. They're cuter than opossums. =P

Possums are cute in a "bless their hearts" kind of way. :D

The Opossums are cute! :) I love their evil little pointy faces. :) I've never seen a tree frog sit like that before. Neat!

I love possums! They are so ugly they are cute and they absolutely just sit there frozen like a popsicle if you catch them unawares! I once opened the door from the kitchen to the garage to go out and met one face to face on the stairs - it stared at me and I stared at it and neither of us moved. I shut the door and went away and when I came back it was gone. They are so much nicer than raccoons!

And that is a Gray Tree Frog (hyla versicolor) http://enature.com/fieldguides/detail.asp?allSpecies=y&searchText=gray%20tree%20frog&curGroupID=7&lgfromWhere=&curPageNum=2

My girls raised them from eggs a couple of times - very cute little guys! If you end up with tadpoles, let me know!!!

I agree with Grace: "Bless their hearts." LOL As for Mr. Copperhead, he must GO!

More possums, less snakes. The only good snake is a dead one, at least if it's on my property anyway. They come in a close second on my official ICK! scale. :)
