Here's a little story 'bout a man named Jed.......

Our neighbor gave us a wood stove. We were SO excited because we have been wanting one and our house happens to have a place especially for a wood stove complete with exhaust already all in place. It's a stone corner in the basement and the wood stove she gave us would fit perfectly! There was only one problem. The thing must weigh about 500 pounds - at least. So, how were we going to get it from her barn to our house.

Enter Mr. Man (Jed). He, of course, had a plan. He built this contraption thingy that he could hook to the back of the lawnmower. It acts as a lever so we could put it under the stove, lift it up easily, roll it to the lawnmower and hook it on then drive it back home. Easy - right? Well, sort of.

We made our first attempt. It was a no-go because of some kind of technical problem with the wheels. Second attempt went better. We got the stove on the back of the lawnmower and headed over to our house. Now, our driveway is pretty steep. That seems to be a consideration that wasn't exactly thought through on our venture. We couldn't get the lawnmower to get up the hill. The weight of the stove was just too much. What to do? Well we came up with a plan. We would get our SUV (4 wheel drive), tie the lawnmower to the hitch and let the SUV pull up the lawnmower which was pulling up the wood stove. SUCCESS!!! Now, we have the wonderful wood stove in our house!

Naturally I'm a good blogger and got you all some pictures of this famous event. However, I obviously could not take pictures of me driving said convoy up the driveway.

That's great! Reminds me of something Red Green would do.

Hehe! Being a born-in-the-'burbs girl when you said 'lawn-mower' I pictured one of those upright, push along jobs!
Thanks to the photos I now know you meant a mini-tractor thingy.

And the stove looks lovely
