First Skein

OK - here it is - my first skein of yarn! I learned how to use the nitty noddy last night and then it took about 15 tries to get the skein tied up right but it's all done!

I just realized though.........I forgot to wash it!!!! Darn. I knew that seemed too easy.

Other than that we are glazing more yarn bowls and firing up the kiln in just a little while. It's always like Christmas everytime we open the kiln - I love it!

  1. Looks great! I haven't washed anything I've spun. I figure that after I knit with it, I'll block it! same thing!

    congrats!

  3. I am so proud of you! That treadle stuff is like wicked! I applaud you for getting a handle on it. I had so much fun on our "kindergarten playdate" today and I am so psyched to see how the buttons and shawl pins turn out.
I seriously want Mr. Man to teach me to throw pottery. Ask him how much he wants for lessons.

  4. ESC - thanks!! And thanks for the tip - I agree - wash later.

Jane - little do you know - it's already started! I post a pic later this week. I still haven't had time to do the second bobbin yet.

Yarnie - very scary that I was actually trying to teach someone to spin anyway! At least you didn't shoot the darn thing across the room like I did when I first started learning.
