Hello there!

Wow! A whole week with no blogging! You all probably think we fell off the face of the earth! Nope - not yet. We are still here. Our last two weeks have been beyond crazy and we have been back and forth to Atlanta about 10 times. It's not over yet. This upcoming week will be travel intense as well, but it should calm down after next week. So, I guess I have some exciting news to share with you all...........................

We are moving back to Atlanta!!!!!

Well........................sort of.

What we are actually doing is getting an apartment in Atlanta because we will be down there 2-3 days a week. Right now, it has been more like 4-5 days a week but that is about to change. I actually ended up getting a job (I know, don't fall off your chairs) quite unexpectedly. I got a teaching position at the School of Nursing at Emory!! I am really excited about this! I love Emory and I certainly loved going to nursing school there. So, I am very excited about having some BSN students.

What makes this even better is that I got the pediatric rotation! Not only will I be teaching students from my alma matter, I will also be teaching them at my former place of employment - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Which is really good because they are getting me up and running really fast so I would be a little lost if I was having to teach somewhere where I didn't know my way around or know any of the other nurses, etc.

We are heading back to Atlanta today and then again tomorrow. Wayne will be putting the finishing touches on us renting an apartment and hopefully we will be able to move in in a couple of weeks. We need some furniture. IKEA anyone? I think the place we are moving to is right across the street from the VA. We shall see.

They hired me last Monday and the semester started last Friday so I wasn't joking when I said they are trying to get me up and running fast. It's crazy when you have to jump through a bunch of hoops for a new job but it is even crazier when you are trying to do it in a week or two! I should have all of my training complete in order to have students next week.

Wish me luck! I'll go ahead and say that blog posts for this week will be sparse again, I am sure, due to my training schedule. After next week though I will send you all some pictures and give you more details. Needless to say, I haven't done any knitting lately!!

Nessie and Petey have been traveling with us and Nessie has been having a grand 'ol time. They will continue to travel back and forth with us while the other cats and chickens fend for themselves. Luckily, the chickens have the Taj Mahal of chicken coups when we aren't here to let them out and the cats have their cat door so they can come and go as they please. Lately, they have been enjoying being lazy house cats.

Progress

I am almost done with the back of the Rugby Sweater from Knit Simple. So far, I love this! The pattern is super easy and I love the texture. I also love the colors and I am hoping that a certain someone will like them as well!

These pictures show the color a bit better. Those last pictures made the yarn look blue for some reason. It is really a dark green though.

Nessie likes it too.

Road Trip!

Wayne and I took an impromptu trip to Hiawassee the other night. We went to the "Yacht Club" for dinner. If you have ever been to the Yacht Club in Little Five Points - this place is similar though not quite so "bikerish"! :)

I wish we would have brought Petey because he would have had a great time with this girl!

The Yacht Club is on Lake Chatuge. Lake Chatuge is looking MUCH better than Lake Blue Ridge right now. They are taking LBR down like 67 feet to do some repair work on the dam. So, right now you can't hardly even get to the water!

On the way back we went the scenic route through Hayesville and Murphy, NC.

I thought this was humorous - Ummmmm.......wouldn't 88% be the new record?

I thought this was entertaining as well......."Hey paw! Don't forget the lawnmower when we go on vacation!"

Milestone!

Miss Nessie is 12 weeks old today - woo hoo!!! This poor little girl has had a rough start but she is doing GREAT now!! She is into everything and I dread the day when she is big enough to start jumping up on the tables that we have been using to keep everything out of her reach. We are gonna be in trouble then.

She has come a long way! She was probably about 4 weeks old in these pictures.

This was at grandpa's before the kitchen was finished.

She has figured out how to get on top of our kitchen cabinet thing and go to sleep in the ceramic bowl we have up there. At least she has good taste, right? She likes handmade pottery.

And she likes to lounge in the sun!

Finally!

Guess what we finally got??

YAY! We got our first egg on Friday! So far we have gotten two. We aren't quite sure who the layer is but I have a feeling that the others aren't too far behind. Yummy!

Speaking of chickens, Our chickens are about 6 months old now.

Our "rooster" hasn't even THOUGHT about trying to crow yet. Hmmmmmm.............I better not catch him laying an egg!

That 70's Party

I can't believe that it is Wednesday already and I have no blog posts! Where does the time go?

We had a super fun weekend in Atlanta last weekend. We went to a fun '70's birthday party for our good friend Sandy! You must check out some of the entertaining pictures. Check out Mr. Man!

I know you can't see them well in these pictures but.............Wayne actually made the bell bottoms!!!! He ripped a seam in the jeans, added some funky material and then sewed it in on the sewing machine. I was extremely impressed! Generally speaking, the sewing machine just makes me cry so I was very impressed with his flawless efforts. He even hemmed my jeans up a couple of inches because they were too long! He's a keeper I tell ya.

I had some thyme drying in a bowl. Wayne had a brilliant idea for an addition to his costume as you can see below.

Grace wanted to try on Wayne's wig.

Hoodlums.

Pool party!!

Playing with pool floats.

Bob obviously pissed off Sandy.

Notice how all the knitting crowd was there early........

Good times!

Wow!

I know you all won't believe this but I actually have some knitting to put on the blog!!! Last week, I found a cool sweater in the latest issue of Knit Simple that I want to make for a certain someone. So, I dyed up the yarn for it last week - all 16 skeins!! I'm doing the Rugby somethingoranother sweater in the DK weight yarn. Here's all of the yarn hanging up to dry.

Seeing as how you can't see any of the colors......I am doing the body in "Artemis", which is a deep foresty green kinda color, and the stripes in a chocolately brown.

Here is the sweater so far - wow, what progress, eh?

We'll see if I can actually complete this by Christmas.

Trapped!

I was doing some work in the kitchen and I just happened to look out the kitchen window and glance at the chicken pen. Poor Slim. I'm not quite sure how this happened. He is looking a bit worried, isn't he?

I had to go out there and free him, for which he was very grateful! Afterward, he had to have a rest.

New stuff!!

Well, Wayne has been hard at work creating new products for the website. I think he has found something that will be a hit and that you all will love. Luckily, the new product didn't even involve very much new design effort on his part.

Interested in knowing what the new product is?

It's pretty exciting!

I can hardly wait to get them on the website!!

Ready to see?????

10 Weeks!

Yay! It is so exciting to have Nessie at 10 weeks and all back to happy and healthy again!! She is back to being her regular pistol self. She has two speeds. On and off. When she is on she is zooming around everywhere and when she is off she is totally passed out. Here are some cute pics for ya! It's pretty difficult to get her picture when she is on.

Nap buddies.

Here she is enjoying Wayne's heating pad that he has been using for his leg.

Nessie is helping Wayne unpack some yarn bowls! She had a grand time with all of that newspaper!

Lake Conasauga

Last weekend we went and did some hiking around Lake Conasauga. We had a good time and only got lost a few times!! One of the things we saw there that was pretty cool was this huge beaver damn. They have made quite the pond here with their construction.

Check out these trees that they are currently working on!

Thankfully Ms. Nessie is back to 110%!!! YAY! We are back to chasing her around and keeping her out of stuff. Last night, I knit a swatch (the first time I have knit around her) and that was interesting. I think I spent more time throwing her off the couch than I did knitting!! I wish I could say the same for Mr. Man. He is sitting on the couch next to me with his leg on the heating pad! These things just take time. Thank goodness Nessie is all better though! She'll be 10 weeks tomorrow so expect some pictures!
